Dayao Bay: Dayao Bay is situated to the northeast of Dalian Bay. The Bay measures 4 km (in width) 8 km (in length), with a total water area of about 33 km2 and the natural shoreline of about 27 km. The Phase One project started in the late 1980s and two specialized container berths and two multipurpose berths under it had already been put into operation by the end of November 1991. Two specialized crude oil berths, one at Wankou for tankers of 50,000 dwt and the other at Dagushan Peninsula for tankers up to 100,000 dwt, were respectively constructed in 1976. Now Dayao Bay has been designated as a bonded port zone with a scheduled area of 6.88 square km. The first phase was completed and operation commenced on August 20, 2007.
